| Mr. Martindale is the Managing Partner and co-founder of the Red Oak Group. He has over thirty years of experience in manufacturing and product design both as a consultant as well as in industry environments. Prior to founding the Red Oak Group, Mr. Martindale was a founder of SiGMA Consulting and has held a number of key management positions with Rank Xerox and Xerox Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation, and was a practice leader within Booz-Allen & Hamilton's and KPMG Peat Marwick's Manufacturing Technology Practice. |
At Rank Xerox, Mr. Martindale headed the organization responsible for the creation, maintenance and control of engineering and technical data across the division's manufacturing organization in the UK, France and Netherlands.
At Xerox, Mr. Martindale spent the majority of his career working in the area of new product and process development. In this role he managed a multinational team of advanced manufacturing engineers, whose mission was cost-effective producable products. This responsibility was across the wide array of copier subsystems, including paper handling, Xerographics, optics, and microprocessor-based control systems.
His last position at Xerox was head of worldwide manufacturing technology for the Xerographic Group. In this position, Mr. Martindale was responsible for the worldwide investment strategy for Xerox manufacturing in the areas of material handling, manufacturing systems and process enhancements. It was from this strategy that the Xerox Design Institute was conceived and justified; this facility was used to install Concurrent Engineering practices across the corporation.
At Digital Equipment Corporation, Mr. Martindale was a Group Design Manager. His area of responsibility included all desk-to-devices: keyboards, mice, terminals, monitors, impact printers, and laser printers. In this role Mr. Martindale and his engineering team were responsible for product design and manufacturer. Of particular note was the design of a keyboard and mouse which were used to drive Digital's Concurrent Engineering program. These products were cost reduced by 50 percent, also achieving a significant improvement in reliability, and were in full-scale production in less than 12 months from project approval.
At Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Mr. Martindale started a new practice in the area of Manufacturing Technology. Over a two-year period, he worked within a broad spectrum of industries, including aerospace, automotive, domestic appliance and electronics.
Mr. Martindale received BSEE and MSEE degrees from Swindon Technical College and a MSCE from Cheltenham Technical College in the United Kingdom. He also holds an MBA from the University of Rochester.
